Our History

The Springfield Township Library was established in April, 1976 at the Township Annual Meeting.  A Library Board was appointed and it was decided to use the old Andersonville Schoolhouse as a Library building.  In 1977, the schoolhouse was moved to the Library's original site at 10900 Andersonville Road and renovated.Today, the Library is a member of The Library Network, in addition to housing a collection of over 35,000 items.  The Library offers various programs for the children and adults of our community, as well as providing public Internet access.

A bond issue for the construction of the Springfield Township Civic Center, which included the Library, was approved by the community in the November, 1998 election.  Construction of the Center commenced in October of 2001.  The new 14,000 square foot library opened to the public in March of 2002.
