Dig into Reading this Summer!
Program runs: June 10th through July 31st (With Ice Cream Party on Aug. 2nd)
Return Reading Record by Wednesday, July 31st
Ages: Toddler - Elementary
What you do: Record how many pages you read in your "reading record". If you read 600 pages or more between June 10th and July 31st, you will recieve a certificate and get to choose a free book at the Ice Cream Sundae Awards Party on August 2nd (If you can't attend the party, books and certificates may be picked up later at the circulation desk). Children should try and read at their own reading level. If your child cannot yet read, you may read to him or her and keep a record.

Reading to Rover
Read aloud to the best listener on earth - a specially trained dog! All dogs are fully trained and licensed as therapy dogs. Pre-register for a ten-minute session.
Magician Jeff Wawrzaszek- June 12 @ 7:00PM
Kick off the Summer Reading Program with 45 exciting minutes of imaginative magic, hilarious visual humor and lots of audience participation. Fun for all ages! No registration necessary.
Dig into Reading with Paleo Joe (paleontologist) - June 18 @ 10:30AM
Paleo Joe brings dinosaurs to life with a T-rex tooth, velociraptor skull, dinosaur puppets and a variety of amazing fossils. Fun for all ages! No registration necessary.
Bubble Day / Dig It Day - July 10 from 1:00-3:00
Visit the bubble station anytime between 1:00 and 3:00. Join us just outside of the library doors to use a variety of bubble wands and blowers. There will also be a fossil/treasure dig going on. A prize drawing will be held at the end of the event. You need not be present to win. All ages are welcome! No registration necessary.
Touch a Truck - July 18 from 10:00-12:00
Touch, climb on and ask questions about your favorite trucks in a safe, supervised environment. Explore vehicles of many types, public service, emergency, construction, farm, etc. All ages welcome! No registration necessary.
Under Your Feet - July 23 @ 2:00
Kay VanHoy from the Oakland County Rock Club will give a hands-on demonstration of geology, minerals and fossils of the area. Best suited for ages 5 and up. No registration necessary.
